Pal_11012023_cover-1

Code enforcement matters in maintaining the integrity, safety, and prosperity of our City.. By upholding City code on property maintenance, zoning, and safety standards, code enforcement ensures the preservation of a city's aesthetic appeal, cultural heritage, and property values. Code enforcement plays a crucial role in promoting public safety by identifying and rectifying potential hazards.

Below is a list of the most common code enforcement issues found by Code enforcement officers in the City.

  1. Unsafe Structures: Buildings in disrepair, with structural deficiencies, or lacking proper maintenance compromise public safety and detract from the overall aesthetic of the city.
  2. Property Maintenance: Properties with peeling paint, broken windows, or neglected exteriors contribute to blight and decrease the desirability of neighborhoods.
  3. Unpermitted Construction: Failure to obtain necessary permits before commencing construction or renovation projects can result in substandard structures that do not meet safety or building code requirements.
  4. Junk Vehicles: Abandoned or inoperative vehicles left on public streets or private property are not only eyesores but can also attract vermin and pose safety hazards.
  5. Inoperable Utilities: Lack of functioning utilities such as water, electricity, or gas can create health and safety hazards for occupants and violate local housing standards.  ---- Information on vacant / abandoned properties
