Mission Statement
To maintain the quality of life of the community and promote economic development through the implementation of the City’s comprehensive plan and zoning regulations.
About the Department
The Planning Department manages existing and future development within the City of Palatka. We encourage quality growth and development by following the City of Palatka’s Comprehensive Plan and the Municipal Development Code. All development plans are reviewed to assure conformity with these two guiding documents. The Planning Department is involved with site development plans and subdivision review, landscaping, rezoning, annexations, historic preservation, and sign permits. The Planning Department also maintains and updates the city's Comprehensive Plan and the Land Development Regulations.
Permit Process
The Planning Department partners with Putnam County’s Planning & Zoning Department to process all building permits. Please see their website for all Planning & Development Applications and all Building Forms & Applications.
All applications must be filed with the County first. The City applications can then be submitted. There are forms available online, and checklists to help with proper documentation. Please follow the checklists carefully and submit all required documents to keep from delaying your permit process. Contact the Planning department with any questions, we would love to help you.
For your convenience, we have all of our forms available online, as well as the Comprehensive Plan and a GIS Reference Map.
